About your Goals

We all have goals, though most tend to be vague mental images.

Why Action Goals: structure produces behavior.…
............................... the right behavior produces results!

Consider this!

Likelihood a Person will complete a Goal

 Hear an idea    10%
Consciously decide to adopt an idea 25%
Decide when to do it  40%
Plan how to do it  50%
Commit to someone else about doing it          65%
 Have a specific accountability 95%

Action Goal Formula for accomplishing your goals

Pain x Future Picture x Action x Debrief = Goal achievement

Pain = Level of dissatisfaction with status quo

Future Picture = Level of clarity around your future vision

Action = What’s your behavior

Debrief = track, review, adjust accordingly

How to get started

Write your goal following this simple formula

I   (Action verb)  (Goal)  by (Date)  (How)

Stop here…push pause…don't proceed further until you've written your goal

Now let’s strengthen your goal.

We do this by using a series of fast start tools and feedback system.

1. The power of the written goal.

Writing down your goals creates focused energy to your success.
Although just the act of writing them down can set the process in motion

A) Focused and specific - Remember, the more clarity you have on your goals
the more likely you are to accomplish them.

B) Write your goal in the positive instead of the negative.

C) Time based - A goal without a date is just a dream.

D) Yikes zone - Is your goal high enough? Attainable, yet in your Yikes Zone (see below)

E) Action based with an emphasis on execution. The goal in this exercise
is to create a goal, determine a course of action that will bring that goal
within reach, and then hold to that action till the goal is reached.
The key is action.

2. What’s your pain?
What's you level of dissatisfaction with status quo?

3. Visualize your goal!
Close your eyes and visualize your Goal. Can you see it? Can you feel it?
Can you smell it? Can you hear it? If so, then so can your subconscious mind.

4. Schedule it!
Align your priorities with your day. What is your daily plan?

Weekly Goal Schedule Template
Monthly Tracking Schedule

5. Sign it and even better tell someone about it!
Commit to yourself with a signature and tell someone close about your Goal!

6. Track and debrief daily!
The most powerful tool in the process - the debrief. At the end of every day
sit down and debrief. Lessons learned, obstacles, challenges, perceptions,
feelings. Rate the day. “Only better if”.
